Yüksekova's Climate

YUKSEKOVA’S CLIMATE

The district of Yuksekova has the climatic characteristics of the Eastern Anatolian Region. Therefore, terrestrial climate is prominent. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are cold and snowy. The difference in temperature is high between night and day and seasons, while precipitation is low, which is one of the most prominent characteristics of terrestrial climate. There is scarcely any forest vegetation, and the vegetation of the district has the characteristics of a steppe. 

 

SETTLEMENT AND POPULATION STRUCTURE OF THE DISTRICT

According to a census made in 2000, there are a total of 113,857 people, 72,172 living in the central district, and 41,685 in the villages. Since works have started in relation to the implementation of the MERNIS Project, the appropriation that is granted should be increased to meet the needs for new staff and more space for being able to give more regular archival services. Yuksekova City Center : 59,662 Sub-District and Villages : 42,377 Total population of Yüksekova : 102,039
